History

In 2010, several members of the El Dorado Hills Fire Department traveled to Colorado Springs, Colorado, for the Annual IAFF Fire Fighter Memorial. The experience was both unforgettable and deeply emotional, inspiring a desire to bring the time-honored firefighter tradition of bagpipes and drum bands to El Dorado Hills. With interest from other department members, local instructors were sought, and by February 2011, private lessons began. From that point forward, countless hours were dedicated to learning and preserving this meaningful tradition.

One of our primary commitments from the start has been honoring Peter Bertelsen, the only El Dorado Hills firefighter lost in the line of duty, at a memorial ceremony held annually on September 16th.

Present Day

Today, the El Dorado Hills Firefighters Pipes and Drums continue to grow and perform at a variety of events, including department retirements, memorial services, and community ceremonies. Our members, consisting of both bagpipers and drummers, train diligently to maintain the skill and tradition that define fire service pipe bands. Through our music, we honor fallen firefighters, celebrate the achievements of our department, and bring the community together in moments of reflection and pride. We remain dedicated to ensuring this tradition carries on for generations to come.
