Developing Skills for a Career in Fire and Emergency Services

The El Dorado Hills Firefighter Internship Program offers qualified individuals the opportunity to gain advanced fire service training and real-world incident response experience. Designed for those pursuing careers in fire or emergency medical services (EMS), this program provides valuable mentorship, hands-on experience, and foundational training to help guide participants toward a successful public safety career.

This is a temporary, unpaid, non-benefited position, which includes a $65 meal replacement stipend per shift.

Program Overview

Intern Responsibilities and Community Involvement

Interns train to assist in emergency response and develop skills in fire suppression (excluding high-risk firefighting activities), hazardous condition mitigation, emergency rescue and medical treatment, and related pre- and post-incident operations. When not engaged in emergency response, interns contribute to day-to-day station activities and community engagement efforts.

Participants will also be expected to support and attend community events such as:

Santa Run and Parade
4th of July Parade and Fireworks
Smoke Detector Give-Away
Community Trash Pick-up Day
Senior Luncheons
Fire Prevention Month
And other Department-supported activities

Application Period:
