At the El Dorado Hills Fire Department, our Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Division plays a vital role in safeguarding the health and well-being of our community. Operating 24/7 out of all five fire stations, we provide Advanced Life Support (ALS) services through a team of highly skilled Paramedic Firefighters.

Our EMS personnel are equipped and prepared to respond to a wide range of emergencies—delivering critical care in the field, stabilizing patients, and managing everything from trauma and cardiac events to respiratory distress and medical crises.

Each level of EMS provider contributes to a comprehensive care system, working in coordination to ensure rapid, compassionate, and effective response. Whether responding to an emergency or offering support during non-urgent situations, our teams are committed to delivering the highest standard of care.

Our Response Fleet

Equipped to Respond, Ready to Serve

The El Dorado Hills Fire Department maintains a modern and versatile fleet designed to meet the demands of any emergency. From fire suppression to advanced medical response, our units are outfitted with the tools, technology, and personnel to deliver rapid, effective service around the clock.

Our response fleet is equipped and ready to handle a wide range of emergencies. It includes:

10 Engines
1 Air/Light Support Unit
1 Water Tenders
2 Medic Units
2 Ladder Trucks (Quint)
1 Rescue Vehicle
1 Lake Boat

These resources ensure timely and effective responses to both medical and fire-related incidents throughout the El Dorado Hills community.

Our EMS personnel are trained to deliver critical care in the field, whether it’s stabilizing a trauma patient, managing a medical emergency, or supporting individuals during non-emergency incidents. Each level of EMS provider plays a unique role in this system, working together to ensure that every patient receives the highest standard of care.

Advanced Life Support in the Field

Paramedics represent the highest level of pre-hospital care. In addition to BLS, they perform Advanced Life Support (ALS), delivering critical procedures such as cardiac monitoring, drug administration, and advanced airway management. Their extensive training and skill set allow them to handle complex medical emergencies with precision and confidence.

In addition to the responsibilities of an EMT, paramedics are trained and authorized to:

Administer medications orally and intravenously
Interpret electrocardiograms (EKGs)
Perform endotracheal intubations
Relieve pneumothorax (collapsed lung)
Operate and interpret complex medical monitoring equipment

Paramedics are held to high legal, ethical, and medical standards. They are personally responsible for each treatment they administer, ensuring safe techniques, appropriate use of medications, documentation of effects, and continuous education on evolving medical protocols and drug contraindications.

Together, we work to ensure timely, high-quality emergency medical response for all residents and visitors.
